First hitting the music scene in 2017, London-born, Brooklyn-Based artist Joshua Thew previously trained as a dancer at the New York City Ballet, making the momentous decision to hang up his shoes for a career in music after a decade of dancing. Despite the risk, it seems to have paid off. Making the dream a reality, Chew has quickly gained support in the past few years and racked up an impressive 450,000 streams on Spotify for his introspective debut single, “Think You’re Getting Through”.

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Frank Ocean and Jessie Ware, Thew blends harmonious melodies and laid-back vocals, in “Sweetest Mistake” the latest in his collection of meditative tracks. An anthem for the brokenhearted, the track sees the artist reflect on the end of a relationship, the haunting inflexions and smooth sound exploring the harsh reality of losing that someone special. “Sweetest Mistake is the reflection after the storm. I wanted to write about how even when we know it’s the right thing to move on in our heads, our hearts still miss the absence and yearn.” He explains. Marrying melodic tones and easy-listening introspective lyrics, it’s no Thew has struck accord across the world, with the soulful singer’s future only set to get brighter ahead of his highly anticipated LP, dropping in Winter 2022.
